As the philanthropic arm of Kansas Masons, the Kansas Masonic Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to benefiting Kansas communities and supporting fellow Masons and their families. Since its inception 60 years ago, the foundation has invested more than $55 million in cancer research, scholarships, community grants and more.
We designed a website for the Kansas Masonic Foundation in 2021. While the site still looked and functioned well, they wanted a refresh for their 60th anniversary year!
As websites age, they can become crowded with new content added over time. The way people use websites also changes. We started with user experience updates, making popular event and raffle pages easier to access from the main navigation.
A bigger change was the addition of program overview pages. They not only highlight the Kansas Masons’ contribution in each area (Education, Health, Community, Masonic) but also provide a single page to link to for multiple programs. This allowed us to greatly streamline the homepage, with only four places to link to instead of 10.
The homepage now has plenty of room to showcase timely updates and new media, starting with a wonderful full-width video promoting their 60th anniversary car raffle. Additional videos share stories from Masons and community members.
The entire site has a fresher look, emphasizing beautiful media-right layouts. Everything is much more open and easy to digest — a must for active organizations like the Kansas Masonic Foundation that have frequent updates and lots of content. Handmade animated graphics and subtle movement help refresh the eye.
Best of all, the new website debuted for the Kansas Masonic Foundation’s 60th anniversary celebration!
