In May 2019, Cassandra Bryan Design (now known as cb{d}) celebrated 10 years in business! What started as a home-based freelance business has become one of Wichita’s most well-known website design and development companies, now located in downtown Wichita. We invite you to take a walk down memory lane with us!
In May 2009, cb{d} was born in a basement walk-in closet of Cassandra’s home. She had built up her freelancing business to a point where she was able to leave her job as a website designer to pursue cb{d} full-time. Outfitted with a classic white iMac and passion for creating beautiful websites, Cassie worked tirelessly building our client list to what it is today.
As our client list grew, it was clear more help with design and programming was needed, so a few additions to our team were made. One of the first was Levi, who is now our director of development.
The basement was starting to get a bit cramped, and Cassie’s husband was growing tired of cars being in “his spot” in the driveway, so the search for our first office began. We moved into a beautiful little office in downtown Wichita off the corner of Douglas and St. Francis. At that point, we considered a name change but ultimately chose to just abbreviate “Cassandra Bryan Design” to cb{d}. We continued to grow our team and expertise. Sarah (current senior web designer), moved from Manhattan, Kansas, to join cb{d} in our new digs.
In 2013 we welcomed Justine (current digital marketing manager), and she fit right in. We all enjoyed working in a fun open office doing what we loved each day. By 2014 we had built our team up to seven people plus a graphic design intern and were immersed in our goal to excel in custom website design.
By 2015 we had launched more than 150 websites (including our first international website) and were needing more room again. Our former graphic design intern, Joey, joined our team and quickly became our main logo designer (current graphic and website designer). Ryan (current website developer) also came on board to help us expand our programming resources.
We moved down the street into the CorTen Building at the corner of Douglas and Market in late 2015. Cassie spoke at the Ribbon Cutting, and afterward, we invited the attendees into the office for a tour.
In 2016 we were excited to add Leah to our growing team as our content manager. Her writing and project management skills helped us to continue to enhance the quality of our design projects for clients. We kept having good times at our new larger office, including several fun team building activities and hanging out with the office animals.
As our digital marketing department grew, it became apparent we needed a dedicated graphic designer to create stunning graphics for monthly ads, websites and print projects. Brier joined our team in May 2018 shortly after graduating from Wichita State University (WSU).
Despite further growth, it was hard to believe that we were approaching 10 years in business! Ten years of building beautiful projects, building relationships with inspiring and supportive clients and building long-lasting relationships with our friends at work as we all supported each other every day. Sometimes this support has been through a smile and sometimes it has been through lending a hand to get the work done.
As we celebrated our 10 year anniversary, we could not have felt more proud to be in Wichita and look forward to the next chapter for cb{d}.
